A Little About Me

Currently, I'm a research student at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, under the guidance of Akkattu T. Biju. My current research focuses on organocatalytic asymmetric synthesis, particularly delving into the realm of N-heterocyclic organocatalysts to synthesize molecules containing diverse chiral elements.

The Course of My Career

The world around us is inherently asymmetric, just like ourselves. This fascination with asymmetry drives my passion for synthesizing and working with asymmetric molecules. I am currently part of a leading research group in India that specializes in utilizing N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) as catalysts for synthesizing chiral compounds. Our recent focus has been on the synthesis of axially chiral molecules involving C-C, C-N, and C-O bonds.

In my contributions to the field, I have authored a paper on the NHC-catalyzed synthesis of N-N axially chiral indoles and pyrroles. This was achieved through a (3+3) annulation strategy, showcasing the potential of NHCs in accessing these complex and intriguing molecular architectures.
